The Honda V65 Magna...this is a motorcycle picture of a 1984 Honda V65 Magna which even to date is one of my favorite motorcycles. For the uninitiated, when this Honda motorcycle came out in 1983, it was the quickest production motorcycle of its day and would still be listed as one of the fastest production motorcycles in history. It was ridiculously fast, allowing a rider to quickly go past the safe parameters of the suspension and shaft drive limitations...but perhaps that was half the fun of this particular motorcycle. The appearance to me was awesome. Others said that it looked like the frame of the bike was magnetized and dragged across a big pile of scrap metal....lol.
The early models had an inherent engineering problem that kept them from being the otherwise bulletproof motor that it could have been. This was a problem with inadequate oiling in the camshaft area, causing premature wear of the cams. It's funny that some of these motors lasted easily over 100,000 miles while others didn't go 10,000 without the problem rearing its ugly head. At one point or another, I have had at least 5 of these beasts in my personal motorcycle ownership.
OK, HERE'S AN UPDATE ON THE 1984 HONDA V65 MAGNA I PURCHASED WITH UNDER 800 ORIGINAL MILES.
ALRIGHT, THE BIKE IS RUNNING AND BACK HOME IN EL PASO....YEAH AND NO EXPENSES WERE SPARED TO MAKE THIS THE BEST 1984 HONDA V65 MAGNA ON THE ROAD. OVER $2000 IN PARTS ALONE WERE SPENT TO BRING THIS BABY TO GREAT CONDITION...NOT INCLUDING ANY LABOR COSTS AT ALL.

Remember these monsters when you were a kid?? When the Honda V65 first came out, it was the fastest production bike of the day. And even today, they hold their own against the newer competition. They had handling flaws...some of them had internal oiling deficiencies...but Oh....they were awesome. Tell us about your Honda V65 experiences...good or bad. Pictures would be great too if available. Thanks for sharing.
