The Yamaha Royal Star Motorcycle has always been a favorite of mine. It is versatile; excellent in so many modes of riding. It's a great cruiser, cross country tourer, or as an economical commuter.

I have owned lots of Yamaha motorcycles, most of which I have enjoyed immensely and the one thing they all had in common was incredible reliability and a high level of quality in fit and finish. And they had one other thing in common....THEY ARE GREAT FUN. I have owned the legendary Vmax, Royalstars in every style, Ventures in both early and current styles, the venture being the full touring version of the Royalstar.

The earlier version of today's Royalstar Venture was a bike called the Venture Royale. It was a great bike. It sat a little tall so many riders who might have liked the bike were basically unable to use the bike comfortably or at all. It was strong, being a detuned version of Yamaha's legendary Vmax engine. Very reliable....nice bike.

In 1996, Yamaha started producing the current version of the Royal Star. It sat lower, and followed a styling pattern more reminiscent of a Harley touring bike. And in fact, unless you knew it was a Royal Star, it looked so much like a V twin engine, you'd be hard pressed to know that it was a V4...with great smoothness, more power than a stock V twin, and water cooled for closer tolerances and longevity.

Yamaha cleverly used a bolt on engine facade with fins that truly make the bike look aircooled. Here's a closeup of a Yamaha Royal Star engine so you can see what I'm talking about.

One of the more amazing aspects of the Royal Star is that they are conventionally carburated but get exceptionally good fuel mileage, usually in the low to mid 40's on the highway.

Another cool thing about them is that they remain virtually unchanged from when they came out in 1996 and thus parts are always available and there are lots of aftermarket parts for dressup (bling) and performance for these bikes.

Below I am providing links to pages of the many Yamaha Royal Star motorcycles I have owned. Take the time to peruse and enjoy the view.
